This shelf is very easy to install! This is definitely a two person project, if even better than that. I was alone. The entire shelf needs to be assembled to use as a template. Trying to hold it up while marking three holes for each side is nearly impossible as it is flexible. Forget trying to align it perfectly as there is nothing flat to level and you need two hands to hold this stupid thing. I'm no idiot when it comes to hanging shelves, I hung all the others pictured myself with no problems. Also, the screws that attach the front end to the post are too short. The threads are too far into the post on one side. Luckily I had longer ones. They're not flush, but they work. The covers covering the mount are not sitting straight. I've tried several times with no success. Try tapping with the back of a screwdriver and a rubber mallet. There's not much room on the surface to try and slide it into place as the kickstand gets in the way. To attach the mounting brackets, you need to drill pilot holes, ok. This is not a problem. But then you have to screw in the screws by hand as the bracket is tiny and the screws are almost next to the stand. The drill doesn't fit, so you have to use a screwdriver. The screws are long and difficult to insert due to the awkward angle. In the photo, my hand comes from a screwdriver biting my palm. Even with pilot holes, tightening screws is very tedious. It doesn't seem 100% secure. It moves when you press it. Regardless, my cats love it! The cat pictured weighs 12.5 pounds and is able to support her weight. She also likes to nibble on it. The shelf on the other side also comes from the same manufacturer. It's much stronger, it was easy to install and there were no assembly issues. I only gave 3 stars because my cat loves it.
