Used in a vintage tractor with a 12V negative ground system When connected normally, the meter showed the opposite reading (e.g. showed discharge when actually charging). Maybe it's because it was originally intended for the positive ground system sometimes used in older tractors. In any case, replacing the wires will solve the problem. When installing, don't over-tighten the back tabs or tear the tiny mounting rail insulator gaskets, which are the only thing keeping you from a massive short and potential electrical fire. Be very careful that the gaskets are undamaged and properly installed so that the tabs are electrically isolated from the mounting plate.
