The golden frame is made of finely polished gold, not bright yellow or shiny. This is the perfect neutral frame and I can't believe the price I paid for it. The matte board is a bit flimsy, but I can't complain considering. The packaging is unreliable - a large outer box and frame corners are covered with ionic thick foam rubber. I bought 2 more although the price went up slightly. If you like framing things, this is great to have on hand. Update - One star deducted for finally opening/using the 3rd frame out of 4 - So here's the deal - the glass is glued to the frame - I really like this feature as you don't have to worry about cuts or handling generally have to do (the downside is that if the glass breaks, you'll have to replace the entire frame, which costs about the same as a glass replacement anyway). THE PROBLEM is that some of the glue from the glass/frame has stuck to the matte panel. So when I had to take the mat off I couldn't and ended up having to pull it out which ripped the mat and made it unusable. Still worth it, I'm still happy with the purchase, but if 1/4 frames is like that then I'd think twice. but I'll probably take my chance again. really love these shots.
