Review on πŸ”¨ Dewalt DCH273P2 Rotary Hammer with Brushless Feature and High Capacity Batteries by Chris Horton

Yellow and black is the new gold

I already have a Dewalt corded hammer drill and it does the job perfectly. Drills concrete like butter with a hot knife. However, some jobs would require me to use an extension cord up to 100 feet long to power my work area. My work truck is already fully loaded and the 100 ft (10-3) extension takes up valuable space. However, I was concerned that the 20V version might not be as powerful as the wired version, and I was also concerned that the battery wouldn't last all the work. I quickly realized that my fears were unfounded. I already have a couple of Dewalt 20V tools and they all work fantastic, but drilling holes in concrete can beat fragile tools. Not this kid. The first job I used this on was installing eight loading dock bumpers. Note that the concrete mix at loading docks is extremely heavy to support truck and forklift traffic. To install eight bumpers, I had to drill 48 holes that were 1/2" in diameter and about 7" deep. Not an easy task for the wired variant either. This drill drilled 48 holes on a single charge and performed as well as or better than the Dewalt corded version. It's more compact and I don't have to worry about plugging in extension cords. I'm not usually too keen on power tools, but this tool got me hooked. That's great. I wouldn't trade it for anything. So if you're looking for a hammer drill that holds up very well, requires no cords, is compact, and drills through concrete like it's cutting through butter, then this is the one for you. Look no further. You will not be disappointed. It is definitely the gold standard in cordless hammer drills. From now on all my power tools will be yellow and black.
