Teensy 4.0 has just come out and I was looking for a way to play some simple sounds. Previous versions of Teensy had a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) in the system that I could hook up to the amps and speakers. Play pre-recorded sounds. Unfortunately, Teensy 4.0 does not have a DAC, but supports I2S. I was able to quickly add I2S support by connecting a MakerHawk MAX98357 to Teensy's I2S pins and to an Adafruit breadboard speaker. Well played.
