The Griffin iTrip for iPod 2nd generation has a very attractive design, if not the most stylish of any other FM transmitter on the market. But this is where the positive aspects of this article end. That's also the main reason I bought it, mainly for the looks. This transmitter is powered by the iPod battery and I feel that this is not enough for the transmitter to emit a strong signal. I live in New York and it's very easy to get over it. Also, every time I pick it up or move it slightly in my car, it loses reception and makes a lot of static noise. The sound quality is also very poor, you still hear a lot of hiss in the background and in my condition it sounds worse than my AM stations. A quick fix for all static and low power transmitters is to connect a USB car charger to the iTrip. This is enough for the iTrip to send out strong signals and charge the iPod. But that ruined the point of such a sleek FM transmitter that was easy to carry.
