The alarm system is easy to assemble and install. . From the outside, the product (made in China) seems strong enough, but it should be mounted high enough above street level so that the device is not alarmed every time a car or pedestrian passes by on the sidewalk. Also, it must be installed away from swaying trees or shrubs to avoid early alarms. This is a very sensitive signaling device. It has a built-in lithium battery (pre-charged) in the sensor and requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included with the device). It works fine now, but some Revain reviews of this machine aren't very encouraging. I chose this product based on the fact that after reviewing about a dozen similar alarms sold by Revain, this unit had the fewest product failure complaints after a relatively short period of use. The lithium battery is said to last about a year (it's self-charging though). 4 x AA alkaline batteries last 30 to 90 days > depending on whether the device is on 24 hours, 7 days or only partially. Battery life can be extended by turning the receiver off when activation is not required, but the sensor will continue to drain the battery even when the receiver is off, unless the sensor is covered, which interrupts battery power. This device is advertised as waterproof, but upon closer inspection there are no gaskets or moisture seals on the senor. To be on the safe side, I recommend installing this device in a location where it cannot be exposed to rain or slow-moving traffic.
