Good drill for screwdriver

Short test. This is pretty good exercise. Long review. It was shipped quickly and was packaged very well. In the box with the goods and in an additional shipping box. First impressions. Honestly, I'm a fan of Makita. Comparing the two, my Makita looks a bit more voluminous and simply "better" or higher quality. When I asked my wife and daughter, they said the same thing. But the Craftsman has a rubber handle so you can get a good grip. It just seems more plastic to me. Not that it degrades the quality, just my impression. Today I used it for most of the day and it did everything it asked without hesitation. Drilling holes, screwing in screws, everything worked without any problems. I almost ran out so I connected it to the charger, it took about an hour to charge. Which seems a bit big for a 1.5Ah battery. This is not a fast charger. After it was charged, I checked it somehow. I threw in a 2-1/2 inch hole saw and it went through the 2X4 pretty well, to the point where it will raise your wrist if you don't secure it properly. A 1 inch shovel went through 2X4 with ease. Even though it was a brand new beat. Quickly and easily screwed 4 bolts into a 2X4. One problem, it was fully charged and only the above took it from 3 bars on the battery to 2. So the included battery might not get you very far. I hope their big batteries last longer. I think this would be a good set for the casual DIYer or occasional use around the house. If you use it a lot you'll need to invest in a couple of large batteries and two so one can charge while you use the other. As for the price, it seems a bit high for what it is. You can get the same "starter kit" from almost any major brand, usually for around $99. so much for that reason. But that's just me. It also has room for a clamp on each side and is said to be part of the Versa-Track system. Should come with a drill, especially at this price point. In general, as I said, this is good practice. Although I don't think I would recommend it to more avid carpenters, not as is. Will update in the future or if something happens.
