UPDATE: 6/26/2018 I'm so glad I chose these blades. I've been shaving exclusively with this for almost 2 years now and love it as much as the first time I used it. There may be sharper or more expensive blades out there, but in my opinion this is the perfect balance of sharpness, affordability and efficiency. Ideal for novice razors and veterans alike. If you argue, I would recommend buying them. 100 blades last a very long time. I easily get 5-7 smooth razors with each blade before I think about throwing them away. This is usually the case if you shave for 2-4 days each time. I knew they would last a while, but I had no idea how long. It's been almost 2 years since I bought it and to be honest I'm only a little over halfway through. The amount of money I saved compared to what I would have spent buying cartridges or disposable razors is ridiculous! Even if you go crazy and shave with a new blade every day, you save a lot of money. The only complaint I could come across was the lack of a recycling facility built into the old blade packaging. It is up to you to decide how to safely store or dispose of discarded blades. (They are packaged in very light cardboard, not plastic or metal cases with a disposal slot like some reversible blades.) ORIGINAL REVIEW: I like these blades so far. Keep in mind I've only used a few of these so far, but they're way better than the cheap double-edged blades I've used at our local Dollar General Store. They didn't last long and tended to bring with them heavier growth. These blades were as advertised and described and appear to be genuine. You will receive two cards with 10 sets of 5 blades each, for a total of 100 blades. Each small blade box contains 5 double-edged blades individually wrapped in wax paper. The blades have a small coating of wax and a dab of waxy material to hold the waxed paper which is rubbed off with the finger. I didn't notice any thick patches of glue etc that needed to be removed. These blades glide much better than the crap I've used before and are much sharper. I feel like I can let the razor's weight work as it should. Ironically, they also seem to be more forgiving. I have never cut or cut myself with it and I usually shave very quickly. Even after a few passes, when my first try in a hurry missed spots, I had no razor burn or razor burn. (I really should slow down!) When you consider how insane the value is, you really can't go wrong. As long as I can buy Double Edge blades I will never go back to cartridges, disposables, etc. GENERAL: Because shaving and choosing the best blade is very individual, and this is an area MANY people are passionate about doing things that, I thought I'd share some background so you know where I'm from. I'm not a shaving snob. I'm not the type to spend a lot of time thinking about shaving. I'm not the one to sit down and argue with you or go over the finer points of shaving with you. For me it's like politics, the perfect cup of coffee, the perfect car or the perfect person to talk to. Everyone has their own opinion and what is ideal for one may not be suitable for another. There is no one solution that fits everyone. I'm not new to double blade shaving. I've been doing this for about 10 years, but to be honest I've never really thought about it. I love the intimacy it offers and when I discovered how much more accessible it is in the long run I switched and have never looked back. As a single dad on a budget, my main reason for shaving with the DE Razor is the significant cost savings. Buying blades for a year or two at the same price I would pay for 2-4 newer cartridge razors seems a lot smarter. I have the luxury of working at home for myself so I don't have to shave. Daily. I don't usually shave every day because I don't have a razor. Usually 2-3 days pass between shaves, sometimes longer. I prefer wet shaving and honestly don't think much about what I use. I usually use cheap shaving creams or shaving gels. I use an old, long-handled Gilette "Black Beauty" adjustable razor. I have fairly coarse hair, especially around my neck. I also get razor burn, bumps and neck irritation very easily. I've been using blades I bought at the Dollar General Store for YEARS. I think I paid a few bucks for 5 blades. This was mainly due to accessibility and convenience. I started using them when I first switched to DE shaving. Guess I thought I'd try the simplest, cheapest blades I could get locally. If I liked the DE shave I might look around for better blades. Life got in my way and I just got stuck in the same old lane. I would buy a few packs earlier in the year and stretch them MUCH longer than I should. Of course, most don't care about my savings habits when shopping, but I thought it was important to note that I honestly don't have much experience with a better quality blade. A few weeks ago I installed my newest Dollar General blade in my razor. and I will honestly never go back. I'm sick of scratching my face with those dull steel plates. Even with a new blade, the 3 day shave required more effort than I would like and multiple passes. Even with a new blade and daily shaving, I tend to get irritation in the neck area from previous blades. When I finally decided to buy a better blade, I turned to Revain to explore options and read some reviews. It turned out to be both a blessing and a curse. Being able to read reviews is useful, but sometimes even more confusing. After spending an hour or two reading many reviews and reviewers discussing the intricacies and benefits of countless blades, I stumbled upon the Astra Superior Stainless. That's a blessing. To be honest I have no idea what I'm doing with all of this and am trying to figure out which blade is best by reading what other people think it really isn't. rush I've found that I don't need a very aggressive blade. Judging by the reviews, these are sharp but gentle blades of high quality and at an affordable price. I thought I could read all day but that would never help me more than just spend 10 or 11 bucks and see what I think when I use it. This was the best shaving decision I've made to date. They are sharp, gentle and after shaving my face becomes smooth with absolutely no irritation. THIS is how it should feel? ;) If my mind changes as I delve deeper into these blades, I'll be sure to update my review. So far, I am very satisfied.
