I don't know what strength is but the bag has very very little padding and all the protection is on the front/ back pocket. Very similar to what you'll find in some cheaper laptop cases. However, it is even less at the bottom and at the top. If you want to use this bag in another bag with enough padding then go for it, this is a really nice design for a laptop bag. I was looking for something with padding and it wouldn't meet my needs unless I put some extra foam in it. So I'm sending it back. I'm giving this 2 stars because of the design of the case and the ability to fully open it for TSA, otherwise it would be a 1 star rating. At a minimum, ALL laptop bags should be padded at the bottom.
