Review on πŸ“» Sangean HDR-14: The Ultimate Portable HD Radio/FM Stereo/AM in Standart Black by Christina Fritz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

So good I bought two more.

The first purchase of a Sangean HDR-14 HD AM/FM radio took four weeks. I was so impressed that I bought two more. My original purchase was for my bedroom, the next two are going to another room and my cubicle at work. I received and tested my two new radios. They work fine. I used to have an Insignia HD radio and although it sounded slightly better (louder) the reception was weak. Sangean HDR-14 has much better reception. And the sound is very good, but not stereophilic. After all, this is a very small radio. I use it mostly wall mounted, but I tested the battery life (3 double A) and it's very acceptable. I get at least 10 hours of uninterrupted play. Other reviewers said most of what I would say, so I'll list the pros and cons from my experience. PROS: * Great reception for HD and FM (I don't use AM except for many extra channels on FM HD channels) * Small size (doesn't fit in a shirt pocket or jean pocket, but will fit in a shorts or coat pocket. Yes * Easy to Operating controls, fairly intuitive * 40 presets Cons: Most are trifles given the size of the radio) * It won't be useful at a party unless it's a dinner party. * I'd rather control the volume with buttons than a dial. * It doesn't cook rice or popcorn, but I don't care. Bottom Line: If you want a small, portable HD radio with great reception, get this one.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • No power
