Moisture and full body at a TOP price!

Perfect in colour, shape, price and performance. They're even waterproof - a rarity among LED bulbs, which is why I bought them. My bathroom exhaust fan isn't pulling humid air out of the room (needs fixing) and my short showers quickly killed several other brands of LED bulbs. Repeated exposure to moisture for just a few minutes at a time was enough to keep the lightbulbs flickering for weeks! I understand a lot about wear, corrosion, signal interference, short circuits, etc., but I still don't understand why humid air affects these LEDs so badly. I kind of expected that (1) the body of the actual circuit would essentially isolate this material from the passively flowing moist air around it, and (2) the heat generated by the LEDs would keep the compartmentalized air, and even some of the air, inside at once. around the jug (which is also semi-partitioned face down and heat rises up in open fixtures) *relatively* dry, at least "not soggy" dry. Obviously I was wrong? But these lamps were not designed for moisture. These are Cree 4Flows and they do a good job on my wet shower issue. They're also approved for use in fully enclosed fittings that toilets typically have (per code I found out) so I've replaced all my cabinets. Lightbulbs are included too. They also work very well. One star off - the only thing I don't like is, as mentioned, the light/shadow pattern coming out of the top of the lamp. produced by these vents. But it's ok if at the time it required the lamp to work in humid and fully enclosed conditions. With open fixtures, you really won't notice the pattern unless your light is close enough to and directed at a uniform surface. This is the case with full cases, the surface of which is a few centimeters from the bulb. So in my closets, the pattern is projected directly onto the surface of my spherical railings, and it's so clear you can trace it with a pencil. I have OCD but for some reason it doesn't bother me. Just think about whether you really care about a perfectly even light. I also wish they were 4000K like the rest of my LEDs, not 5000K but hey, close enough. OCD again, but they go well with 4000K for me. They're grouped for each fixture, so I don't add 4000K to a fixture along with 5000K to the same fixture. that would probably be too complicated for me ;-) But they fit in well between rooms/cloakrooms/corridors.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
