I don't like the soaking method so these are great for me. I can sit with them in one hand and do something with the other. Emory boards are very standard and the small bottle with nail polish remover dispenser is very handy. My only complaint is that the cotton pads don't absorb much liquid, so I usually have to keep my finger off them twice.
