I tried the lesser quantity option first, found the SpiroPure brand was very good, with the best flow rate and cost effective, then bought bulk size to save a few dollars later. I am using these as part of a a three stage on a residential well with high iron. We get about 12,000 gallons before needing to change them.The first filter on our filtration system is a 40-micron Frizzlife JX800 spin down sediment filter to remove the large particles first. The next filter is a 5 micron EP-20 iSpring FP25X25 sediment filter followed by a this 5 micron EP-20 iSpring 155529 carbine filter. The third filter is a 1 Micron SpiroPure CB-25-2001 carbon filter. The final step is a PUR PUV15H GPM Whole House UV Water Filtration System. The water tests shows it very clean and drinkable.During replacement, I use a round toilet brush with a rag wrapped around it saturated with Neutra Sul Professional-Grade Oxidizer (7% hydrogen peroxide) to clean out the filter canister, where our well water has water table sludge and iron. I wear long rubber gloves where it could irritate the skin. Then add a cup of the same Neutra Sul into the canister before restoring with new filter, to purify the tanks which diminishes the sulfur smell. It is not toxic and is safe at such a small quantity.
