We took a set of these radios to Disney World along with some Baofeng radios. This set proved to be just as useful as Baofeng and came in a much smaller form factor. I didn't expect great range from them, but they were good for about 3/4 mile in more open terrain and about 1/2 mile surrounded by buildings. To be honest it was all we needed to coordinate our group of 12. There was some travel that caused interference on the radios, but tuning to an alternate frequency usually fixed that. We used them at 434.65 and 434.85 MHz. They are MUCH better than FRS radios. Although the output power is only about 3 watts, the channel has not been overloaded like all FRS frequencies. They were also MUCH easier to use than having to constantly reach for your phone. Otherwise, we rarely heard the phone ringtone, while the ringtone caught our eye immediately. We've seen a lot of curious looks and gotten a few questions about walkie-talkies. The battery lasted all day, which was about 12 hours for us. I was very surprised that we never ran out of battery. They were charged normally overnight. We tried in-ear headphones and they worked really well, but we ended up using them mostly without a headset. In a "communication-intensive" application, I would definitely use a headset. The belt clip was great and it was easy to install and remove the radio with it. They also worked great with repeaters throughout the area. Tones and offsets were easy to program using the same cable as Baofeng. And make sure you use CHIRP. Of course, you must be a licensed broadcaster with a valid callsign to use them. Getting a technician license is not difficult and I highly recommend it. It definitely lived up to my expectations and I thought the description and other reviews were pretty accurate. For these reasons I give them 5 stars but I advise you to buy them without thinking that they are radios as powerful as Yaesu.
