I live in a temperate rain forest in Southeast Alaska and these are my "everyday" hiking shoes. They're comfortable enough to last all day (with a pair of arch inserts, which I use in all my shoes to help fight plantar fasciitis). Ankle boots, a waterproof construction that allows me to walk carefree through puddles, shallow mud or snow, and a zipperless style that makes them easy to slip on and off when entering or exiting the house. Here almost no one wears shoes in their house because people's shoes are almost always wet and/or dirty due to the almost constant rain. This shoe is easy to use. I don't wear these shoes when I'm off-road or wading through snow when I need bigger or warmer boots. They are also not suitable for running. But they're great for wet conditions where you don't expect to wear them over the ankles. For me, that's mostly the case, so I prefer these shoes most days. They last me about a year per pair if I use them. The point of failure was near the ball of my foot where my big toe meets my foot. The rubber develops many small cracks with each step after flexing.
