This is not safe. My 11 year old daughter has a three stripe ring on her finger. This cut off blood flow and her finger became so swollen that the ring could not be removed. We called emergency services, but because the ring is steel, their tools couldn't cut it. Most core drills are designed for soft metals like silver or gold. We eventually turned to a jeweler who gratefully agreed to help us (many didn't) and it took him about 20 minutes of hard, tedious work to cut the steel. Obviously it's hard to remove without hurting your finger, you can't use a dremel cutting tool. I decided never to buy steel rings again, knowing how difficult it is to remove them.
