We are using a socket on a bare sub floor in preparation for installing new floors. Furnishings were standard. What is impressive is how the socket works. It's a lot easier to use than the old fashioned little lids that pop open. These are smooth popups. The frame around the outlet has a smooth rounded edge. The puppy is on the same level as the frame around it. They look modern and work better. The border around the outlet is perfect for a countertop, but we've also used it on the floor. The exit will not be flush with the floor; the confinement around them causes the plate thickness to increase. We love them and they work well on floors.
