Review on Juki MO-735 Serger & Cover Hem Machine with 5-Thread Capability by Adisorn Chuamuangpha ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am delighted, the product is really worthy.

In 2022, he worked in a sewing store, demonstrating the work of equipment to customers. I consider this carpet to be the best choice of what I have ever worked on. Tested on different fabrics. I will say right away the segment is above 50 I don’t know (at 2022 prices), we didn’t sell it, I don’t know industrial equipment either. Sewing machines for 100and above, with all the abundance of lines that they make 500 or 1000, it’s over, they don’t know how to do what the overlock / flat stitch does and vice versa. Overlock / carpet lock / cover stitch / cover stitch machine is a different class of technology and a technically differently organized device to perform its specific tasks. In the overlock, the looper / spreader, in the typewriter, the shuttle device. My impressions of the alternatives that this model has: Aurora, AstraLux - very bad and just bad, Janome (it is in overlocks that the impression is rather "bad", but I like the Cover Pro II flat seam and quite satisfied), MerryLock - neutral (I can’t say nothing bad, but also good, after all, Juke and Bernina sew more accurately), Bernina is good. And, finally, if you have a lot of sewing equipment at home and you don’t know where to put the next overlock / carpet, then follow the rule: “overlocks to overlocks, carpets to carpets”.

Pros
  • In my opinion, Juki 735 is the best choice in terms of price, functionality, accuracy, sewing quality. If 2 in 1 devices are inconvenient - too complicated or you have to constantly reconfigure the functionality from overlock to flat seam and back, then you can take separate ones. Here I would recommend a bunch of Bernina 870 and Janome Cover Pro II. If we compare the overlock part of the Juke 735 with the Bernina 870, then my subjective impression of the Bernina is slightly better. But the difference is not so significant, and the fact that Bernina is simpler in its device, it is more pleasant to use it, since it does not combine 2 devices in itself, also plays in favor of this. Bernina 880, I personally liked it less than 870, although structurally, as far as I could see, they are absolutely the same, 880 only introduced a simplification of threading, but I paid attention to the quality of the seam, smoothness, ease of operation, and again, subjectively, I liked 870 more. In Bernina 1300 I didn’t notice any differences from 870 in terms of the quality of the seam, I only remember that it is much more expensive. Therefore, my advice: who needs a flat seam + overlock, take a Juke 735 or Bernina 870/880 + Janome Cover Pro II coverlock. Who needs just an overlock, take Bernina 870. Either I haven’t seen pure Juke overlocks (I don’t remember them), or they don’t exist in nature or we didn’t sell them, in general, I can’t say anything about them. Crooked instructions (literally, there are errors where the left and right are mixed up, etc.) now for almost all sewing equipment that I have seen (in my opinion, only for merrylock it differed for the better), so watch something educational on YouTube or on special . forums.
Cons
  • Keep in mind that the sellers in the store can tighten the thread tension so that the best overlock will appear in an unsightly light, and the worst one will sew better against its background. The most reliable way for people who do not understand will be to compare at the factory settings - out of the box (usually the tension is set at an average level of 4-5, if I remember correctly). In any case, to debug the settings, thread the overlock with threads of different colors and if you see, for example, that the red thread comes out, then do not hesitate to tighten it. Be wary of talking about what a heavy machine you feel, everything is made of metal, and this machine is light here, everything is made of plastic, which means it will break soon, and will also not sew thick denim fabrics in 5 additions and leather. If you choose in the segment, albeit budget and household, to which this carpet belongs, and not a toy or semi-toy and the machine is full-sized, has a regular size, not for children, not super-cheap and compact, toy, then the manufacturer knows what he is doing, what details actually bear a load and must be made of metal, and what loads do not bear and can be made of plastic. This is all the more true if you choose a reasonable well-known reputable manufacturer. Of course, metal is better than plastic, but it’s not the weight that matters, but the technology and the specific device. I know that modern stores often use this card to redirect the buyer to a more marginal product, that is, a product with a higher margin. It works like this: first they post carrots for 3 kopecks on the Internet, setting a price tag on this popular product almost at a loss, and when a buyer comes to the store, they show him a carrot in front of his nose and say that it is actually quite bad, but there is cabbage and it is beautiful. Well, and cabbage, of course, is already a very marginal product, it may cost more, maybe cheaper, but its real quality is worse.

If you plan to use it very often, then I advise you to buy a sewing machine and a sewing machine separately. A lot of time is spent on rebuilding the seams. In general, I am very satisfied.
