I bought two of these stove fans for my gas stove, one for myself and one as a gift. I also have an Ecofan which has larger fan blades. On my gas stove it takes about 30 minutes for the stove to generate around 300F temperature before the fan blades start rotating. This fan starts a couple of minutes sooner than the Ecofan but the Ecofan blades continue turning a little longer when the stove is shut off.Does this fan work? Yes, but the heat is subtle, perhaps helping to raise temperatures 1-2 degrees in the room.In the past we relied on the overhead fan (switched to winter use) to circulate warm air but now we don't need to. Note, however, that the fan may not work on some pellet stoves. My brother-in-law's pellet stove does not get hot enough on top to activate the fan.
