If you read the instructions on how to tie correctly (the ties tie at the back) you will see that they fit a specific waist size. The length, while somewhat adjustable, still sits high with an inseam of 31 inches or more. With a 30" inseam, they fall over the top of your foot leaving about 1.5" at the waist to fold. If you're using them for lounge pants or yoga pants, it most likely doesn't matter. My friend and I bought them as pants to wear to medieval reenactment camp sites in the summer. They are very light and breathe well!
