Review on πŸ”§ BLACK+DECKER BDCS50C 4V MAX Cordless Screwdriver: Convenient Bit Storage in Vibrant Orange by Gerard Hudson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like the concept but the build quality and ease of use is lame

I received this to replace a similar screwdriver that I have been using for over ten years. I liked the idea of a "turret" cylinder holding the bits. It's a really cool concept and I love it. Unfortunately, the rest of the device is not very good. My two biggest complaints are the buttons you press to toggle forward/backward. These buttons are REALLY tight and hard to press. And even when you push it, it's hard to understand that you really pushed it all the way. Secondly, this device has a conceptually very good built-in backlight, but it only lights up when the trigger is fully pulled. Therefore there is no way to use the light if the drill is not rotating. That doesn't really help because you really need the light when you're trying to line up the drill with the screw, but you don't want the drill bit spinning all the time while you're trying to line it up. . It's just a weird "feature" that sounds good on paper, but in practice it should turn on when the trigger is pulled lightly, and the club spin when the trigger is fully pulled. But unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Some flaws
