As soon as I took this bed out of the box, Stacey walked in and started kneading it! Then she took a long nap. He's very, very soft. It looks like a pumpkin, but it's pink. He stays up alone, but I can imagine a dog or cat lying on top of him and then he falling off. Stacey weighs about 8 pounds but I chose the large over the medium because I thought she would have liked more space. I think the areas given in the description are for a 'cozier'/smaller space. So glad to have this for Stacey, especially during the winter months when my apartment can get a little drafty. The sides are also filled with "PP cotton" according to the description. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems a bit isolating. I don't think this works outdoors, but it's perfect for a drafty apartment. This is a great hiding place where the kitten can feel safe and comfortable.
