These replacement repellents work very well. Given that it's recommended to be placed 12 to 40 inches off the ground, my only complaint is the image of a rat positioned front and center on the device. A more subtle design that would not have advertised that the device was intended as a mouse repellent would have been desirable. Too bad I didn't see the picture of a rat on the front of the device before buying it. I would choose one of the brands that just looks like a night light.
