Perfect design and functionality for civil defense applications - someone found this product really good. Unlike most commercial radiation detectors, which only detect low dose rates, this small detector is one of the few wartime designs relevant to nuclear fallout scenarios. The photocintillation system is an ideal detection method for this purpose and is superior even to the ionization chamber/gauge (FEMA yellow gauges) in that no calibration is required to be effective. It's also very affordable to give yourself a reliable, portable way to know when nuclear fallout dose rates are dangerous or acceptable. Probably similar in accuracy and function to the Kearny Fallout Meter's homebuilt ionization chamber, but without the hassle and more portable. I hope this turns out to be just another useless item in my kit! The occasional soft ticking is very reassuring - stay alert at all times.
