We made this for our elderly mother who has Macular Degeneration. Compared to clear cups, she can actually SEE them; bright colors can be seen around a dark spot that obscures their vision. Also, she's not tall, so when she reaches for those glasses she has a bit of an "attachment" to hold on to compared to the smooth glass. And besides, I know that if she drops one of those cups, they won't shatter into a million pieces she can't pick up. the purpose we intended them for: a practical yet colorful and fun gift for our elderly mother.
