As a carpet cleaning business owner, I recommend this broom to homeowners who have pets and even to those who have a lot of women with long hair in the house. This can simply prevent the whisk from tangling on the vacuum and/or help eliminate or prevent the belt from breaking again. My professional recommendation is to use it on pets at least once a week before the weekly vacuum. In this way you avoid typical pet smells that we pet owners cannot get used to. This broom works very well on low-pile carpets, area rugs and, thanks to the retractable handle, especially well on stairs. Using it on plush rugs is so troublesome and seemingly useless that you wouldn't want to be doing this in a large room on a regular basis. But for removing excess hair where your pet is in the sun or resting, this works well. It is best to use short strokes. It doesn't penetrate deep into the pile, so skip this broom if you're trying to eliminate odors caused by pet hair oils that have penetrated deep into the carpet. In such situations, it's best to slowly and systematically suck in one direction and then suck in the opposite direction again. After you're done with that, repeat the process. Seriously, up to 85% of the dirt in a carpet is dry soil, so regular and proper vacuuming is the best thing you can do to keep your carpet clean and tidy.
