I usually use Secret or a similar deodorant stick. That works great! I was hesitant to try anything natural or even a powder for fear it would be too dirty, I put it on before my clothes and it wasn't a problem. After a few weeks of use I accidentally missed a day, if I had done it sooner I wouldn't have had any issues. Forget the prescription strength, try the toxin-free one.
