I was looking for how to make my own light box which I need to trace patterns and make my own stencils for pottery and spray painting. The last time I used a lightbox was seven years ago in college. Seven years is a long time. The longer I continued my research, the more I realized that I didn't have the right tools or woodworking parts to build an affordable light box, let alone the time it took to build it. My heart and my wallet didn't feel it. So I put that research aside and made it my goal to put the lightbox on the metaphorical shelf, to address later while I work on other projects. A few months later, Revain Prime Day was upon us and I had an extra $10 Whole Foods coupon I had to use. I was browsing through some art supplies and came across a picture with LED lights. I never thought of looking at LED light panels because it never occurred to me that someone had already invented them! Wow! It was very affordable and looked amazingly thin. I need to have this so I can make more art! I purchased this A4 size LED copy stand and received it within a few days in a manila bubble envelope. When I opened the box, the light bar came with a USB cable and two magnets to hold the paper to the surface, what I find useful. I plugged it in and tested the light bar. Wow! Reliable light source! Unlike those spotty lights you get from DIY and clunky fluorescent tubes. Uniform, even and bright glow that does not irritate the eyes. I'm glad there are 3 levels of brightness which gives a bit of flexibility in the variety of material being processed. I tested it during the day and used the brightest setting to be able to track. At night I use the lowest setting because it was bright enough. I've found that I prefer to work in a darker room on a light block. The lightweight pad feels durable while you draw. I took some shots of the logo I'm working on for my pottery shop, and sorry if the photos are a little dark, but you should see how bright it is at night on the lowest settings! 😍There are only two small issues with the lightbar. The power button to turn the light on and off is very, very sensitive. A tiny, light touch and the button is instantly activated. If my hand or fingertip accidentally touches the button while I'm drawing or moving the paper, the panel will turn off or switch to the next brightness. It would probably be more convenient if the button were installed in the same place on the panel, but on the back under the lighting panel so that it doesn't accidentally go out or suddenly switch to the next brightness level. Because the light bar would already be on the table top or the drawing board, and if the power button was down, it couldn't be accidentally hit. The second issue I have is that I would like the micro USB B connector to be in the L shaped connector that needs to be plugged into the lightbar to make it easier for the cable to stay aligned with the edge of the lightbar . Because the connector sticks straight out, it can bend and break if you're not careful. I know I'll be careful, the micro USB connector won't be a problem for me, and I don't have kids in this house. 😆Overall I am very excited and very happy with this lightweight rug! It's affordable, light weight, very thin and most importantly bright.
