Review on ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Dish Dry Dock - Hygienic Dish Drying Rack by Lee Reyna

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The original version seemed better

I bought the original large drain mat when it was still under the Prepara brand (current ones are marked "Dry Dock"). It served me well, never absorbing odors, and while the dishes miraculously didn't dry twice as fast, they did dry fairly quickly, and the rug itself air dried very quickly after the dishes were removed. Wanting extra drying space, I bought a very large model from the Prepara brand, thinking it would be a larger version of what I already had - well, not really. The first thing that struck me is that the dark honeycomb portion of the Extra Large dryer is actually *smaller* than the very large by about an inch (the honeycomb portion is really what you pay for and what you want). The very large cup is flexible and cheap, and once the weight of the glass rests on the thin honeycomb sheet there is no noticeable airflow. Also, the very thin "towel portion" of this extender quickly collects runoff water and dampens countertops, slowing down the drying of wine glasses or anything else you place on them. Moving on to the main honeycomb part there is no doubt that my countertop is complete. up is much wetter than the previous version I owned. In addition, my dishes did not dry out as completely as in the previous version. There could be various reasons for this, but they all boil down to my guessing that it's a cheaper product/material. mat hit me with a series of "dents" left by dishes on the honeycomb surface - the dents didn't go away. I bet some of the wicking material has been compressed making it less effective aside from being visually unappealing. As more dents accumulate over time, the product will likely perform worse. I think very large dents are overpriced for what you get. The large version is about $5 cheaper assuming the large dry dock version is the same quality as what I already have. If extra space is needed, I would prefer two large rugs to one extra large. Not recommended.
