Review on Sony ICF-CD73W AM/FM/Weather Shower CD Clock Radio - White: Discontinued Edition - Find Yours Now! by Cindy Jones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sturdy to the touch, beautiful to look at, takes up little space, sounds discreet for its size and function: making it fun in the bathroom again!

For decades I had to either talk on the radio or listen to music while I was showering or cleaning the bathroom. And I'm addicted to singing in the shower. So when my 7 year old Emerson CD/Radio was dying I got this one (my options were limited and it looked like the best of them all in terms of ratings and reliable operation). I like this CD player very much. /Radio. It takes up less counter space in my tiny bathroom, so I have a little more room for my beauty products, yay. It feels comfortable (unlike my weak Emerson). It doesn't skip as much at high volumes as my previous one. Although I can't make it as loud as I'd like. Sounds pretty decent for this size/small speakers/etc. (although we really expect stereo quality?). I like that it's spill resistant as water often spills onto the counter when I wash my face. It's attractive. I love that it has bands so I don't have to fiddle with the tuner every time I switch from FM to AM or vice versa. I also like that the part on the back where you insert the CD is secure. I've been using it for two weeks with the same batteries, use the CD player maybe an hour a day and the radio a little less. He's still fine. What I do not like? I can't program a CD playlist (so I can't skip songs I don't like, and I only have a few CDs that I enjoy every song on). I hate that when I press the radio I lose the music for a few seconds (just stop and you wait a while and it comes back). However, I hit it hard once when I opened the first aid kit too hastily and the CD fell out (and it didn't fall, just hit hard). I don't like that some of the FM stations I like don't work at all, even though the radio in the next room is recording. However, the benefits outweigh my grumbles. I'm glad my singing tunes are back in the bathroom so I can play while I shave, wash my hair, etc.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • expensive insurance
