Short version: Perfect! Simple, great job. Heat for 7 seconds, roll out in a circle before use, use clipboard, press firmly, use toothpick, stick tape with hot glue. The end result is super light and exactly what I was hoping for. I was a little worried because Revain has multiple options and the reviews and results seem to be mixed. I bought them to make hand and foot jewelry for my little girl who was born in April. She was 7 months old when we did this (and especially her arm and leg were almost too big but they still worked great). The leg was the first we made and it took about 3 tries to get it the way I wanted it, but it was very easy to replicate - just microwave for 5-7 seconds. We did 5 as instructed at first but my arms got tired after working on it for a while so I increased it to 7 and it helped! We even had to stop to feed them and the clay warmed them up nicely. worried about the weight. The weight definitely doesn't matter as this material is really very light! I envisioned a hard and heavy ceramic texture once dry, but it reminds me a lot of marshmallows. When it dries it is not as hard as ceramic. I was able to crush it between my fingers a bit and it still bounced a bit, but no new imprints were added (if that makes any sense). And when I say marshmallow, I don't mean it's a gooey mess in the middle. This may be typical of all these clays, but I've never used them before. EVERYWHERE is perfect! Light enough to hang from even a flimsy branch and I dare say it wouldn't break if dropped which is a further relief and gives me peace of mind that I can hang them and not install them high got to. Regal well out of reach so as not to damage them. As for the process, I already mentioned heating. I used my own wax paper because it seemed to be of better quality than the one that came with it. I split the clay in half and then heated it one by one, kneaded it, rolled it into a ball and then pressed it with my hand to about the right size and thickness. I then used the included rolling pin to finish smoothing. Lightly lay the circle on top to make sure it's big enough, and really just look at its thickness and make sure it's somewhat even all over (maybe about 1/3 inch). Then I turned it over and used the side that was pressed against the flat table top the whole time as the printable side. I made the prints THEN used a round cookie cutter to position it the way I wanted to cut it. Note: some people complain that they can't smooth out clay - I had no problem with that. I also think some people try to shape the clay and slide it into the round cutter that came with it and then try to roll it out there and then talk about how difficult it was and also how big and unwieldy it was. Yes, it WOULD be difficult - don't do it. :) For prints, I also used a tray to hold wax paper and clay in one hand and my child's foot in the other. I work as a nurse in a maternity/postnatal unit and this is the method I use to best control newborn footprints. :) The last thing I did was add the lettering and a hole for the string (twist the straw to make an easy hole). easier to work with, especially when your clay is starting to lose some of its workability. The letters are the only part that was quite difficult. I pressed them fairly deep into the clay because I wanted to make sure they were still easy to see in case some detail is lost during drying (same for arms and legs - press them in there; these aren't paint impressions you hardly needs to be touched). But it was a bit difficult to get the letter back. Nothing unusual, but it was necessary to gently press the clay and shake it slightly. And then they kind of sprinkle a little clay with it so the edges aren't "perfect". I used a toothpick to clean up the edges a bit and included a video of this part. Then just let it dry. They were definitely completely dry after 72 hours (although I would say they were probably dry after 48 hours and I was just being very careful and still not sure how hard they were supposed to be). I saw another reviewer add some trimming tape and really liked the idea, so I made something similar with the twine and yarn I had. The hot glue worked great and voila! Everything is ready and super satisfied. If you've read this far, bless you. LOL Hope that was helpful! Merry Christmas!
