Here's the deal. Buy speakers for music, not home theater. You get good bass, and like these, they don't need a subwoofer. Subwoofers give you the strongest bass effects, only the strongest. Real speakers like these produce bass waves. It feels like a membrane is being stretched in front of you, bringing out the bass you feel and hear in gentle waves, and it's a pleasant mysterious feeling. I suspect the feeling is that you're resonating with the bass, not just being hit by it. Musical waves, not square waves. Anyway, good accuracy of music CD in high and medium frequencies. I had to stop and determine which sounds were real and which were on the TV/Bluray/CD playing. Very satisfied.
