Review on πŸ“Ί Arlington TVL2508K: Enhancing Home Entertainment with Shallow Drywall Compatibility by Todd Stovall

Not impressed Good for the electrics

Looks great but has two problems: no template to cut holes in drywall (or stated dimensions) and inconsistent trim ring performance makes them difficult to install. Looks good but installation is a lot harder than I expected. As previously mentioned, the non-brushed opening allows for better air ingress from any outside wall for all non-power cords. Mine goes through the semi-insulated wall of the fireplace insert box and needs foam insulation, but for that I have to cut an access hole and then plug it. The trim ring is mounted on one box but not mounted on the second (still in the kit) but necessary for attachment. The power cord in the box is long enough, but if it's too much cord, just cut off the standard 3-prong plug, shorten the cord, and add a new plug, but only if you're experienced at it, for ensure proper grounding (you must use a 3-prong grounded plug for safety and code reasons) and ensure stranded power conductors are soldered (or not) and tightened to specification. A loose wire can start a fire in a box or wall, so have your work installed, or at least inspected, by a professional.

Pros
  • Includes (2) TVL508 boxes and all the hardware needed to quickly mount a TV flush to the wall
Cons
  • Not trendy
