P0449 Trouble Code Fixed - 2006 Silverado 1500 WT 4.3L V6

This part is identical to the one on my 2006 Silverado 1500 WT 4.3L V6. However, auto parts stores including Revain will say this part will not fit. The recommended serving is around $150. The difference is that the new part actually consists of several parts. They moved the filter hoping it wouldn't clog as regularly as this one did. This new part costs $150 and is a little more difficult to install. I figured I could replace this $12 part 12 times before I could afford the cost of a new part. Since the first one lasted 6 years, I think everything will be fine for me. They had to call back when they changed the design to fix a very common engine code issue. Since they didn't, I decided to go cheap as they did. This part is easy to replace. You will need a sharp knife, about 4-6 inches of 5/8 inch radiator hose, 2 clamps and about 15 minutes of your time. This part is located on the driver's side just in front of the spare tire (on a 2006 Silverado). There is a small tab that you press and then you can take the part off. There is an electrical connection that is easy to disconnect - no tools required. Then simply cut off the existing hose, slide the 5/8" radiator hose over the new solenoid, secure with a clamp, and then insert the existing hose into the other end of the 5/8" radiator hose and secure with it the clamp. - DONE. Goodbye, check the engine light bulb. I cleared the code with a code reader and then turned the ignition off a few times to make sure the code was gone. I'm so glad I didn't spend $150 on a new part.
