Peppy Leaf Blower for Light Tasks

I’ve eliminated all gasoline-powered tools and have started a collection of EGO battery powered tools. The next EGO I was going to get was the 650 CFM leaf blower at around $300. I saw this one for less than 1/3 the price and thought it was worth trying. Mind you, this was a free evaluation but I thought it was useful to see if this will/could delay or avoid the $300 I was planning for the EGO unit. The revain price is $85 with an extra $10 coupon bringing the final price to $75 which is not a bad price for a leaf blower. I needed a leaf blower to blow snow off my porches (when it’s too light for a snow blower), blow dust off my porches (hey, this is windy Wyoming), and dry my car after I wash it. The latter was the primary reason for my interest in obtaining a leaf blower in the first place. This device is quite light (the mfr states "5.5 pounds”) for a leaf blower so most family members should be able to use it. It is easily assembled and everything is included: Leaf Blower, Li battery and charger. It has 2 speeds and is supposed to go up to 330 CFM air volume.First, I proceeded to blow the dust off my lower porch, and it worked great. It also tossed-away those pesky tumbleweeds that collect there. Then, I used it for fast-drying my vehicle after washing and it works OK for that. The battery charges fairly fast and it works okay for removing dust, snow from porches and for drying your vehicle.Noise level is about normal for such devices. I placed a decibel meter near my ears and the leaf blower at arms length with the low setting reading at 83 decibels and the high setting at 87 decibels.Recommendations: Wear eye protection! Wear hearing protection! Although this is significantly less noisy than a gasoline powered unit, it is a good idea to wear hearing protection as decibel levels above 85 can cause permanent hearing loss.Bottom Line: 350 CFM is not really a whole lot of air volume but this device is sufficient for light-duty jobs. Yes, this will definitely delay and likely avoid the future purchase of a $300 EGO leaf blower.Update: July 2022Well after using 4 or 5 times, the battery quit and I refuse to spend $50 on a battery. Apparently, only Worksite batteries will work with this tool.Looks like I will be buying an Ego Leaf Blower after all.Very disappointed.UPDATE: November 2022-Got the Battery to Charge!I finally figured out how to get the battery to charge-many folks apparently have had the same issue I had: the battery will not charge (the charging light remains red).Solution: 1) Power the charger, 2) Hold the battery button in while inserting the battery into the charger. This may reset the BMS in the battery (?). Since then, I have been using this little leaf blower for blowing weeds and dust off my decks. Used it for a long time yesterday removing snow from my walks and driveway.

Pros
  • The leaf blower is perfect for both residential and commercial use, thanks to its high-performance capabilities
Cons
  • The blower is not suitable for wet leaves or debris, causing clogs and other issues
