I'm a certified bushead (that's what the doctor tells me : ), with an aversion to elevated peaks in the 4K range. FD1 is classified as a 9/10 on the Basshead measurement system. There will always be that 10th person who wants their teeth to chatter and their eyes to pop out. Like most DD-only headphones, the FD1 needs to be hacked. After playing music on it (at medium volume) for 24 hours, here's what I found: The FD1 handles the frequency range very well. From the low 20Hz to high frequencies, in my danger zone. Luckily I don't find FD1 boring. I wouldn't call them too warm as some find the very popular Blon BL03. If, like me, you're keeping the BL-03 in your rotation but want an alternative with a rich subwoofer with no noticeable mid-range bleeding, while maintaining levels of instrument and vocal clarity. Then FD1 is for you. Pros Very good EQ with significant subwoofer, clear mid-bass, no noticeable hiss/noise that would reduce listening time. Broad presentation, vocals are well balanced compared to the instruments. I'll get back to you after a few days off. I used the streaming service to test the FD1 on some of my test songs: 1. "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. Most of my inexpensive IEMs sound clipped; FD1 plays far. I can't get the "Rememberโ chorus out of my head. 2. "When I get to you", Lost on the River The deep bass is deep with no noticeable mid-range leakage.3. "Yesterday" by The Beatles Although the song has minimal instrumentation, there are many differences. The vocals are in just the right place, forward but not dominant.4. "Hotel California", Eagles (Version 7:12) The first 30 seconds are spectacular and clear, the bass drum gives the impression of a live concert. The singing is top notch; especially given the era this song is from.5. "House of the Rising Sun", Animals This is a song (much as I like it) that I can't really play at a decent volume without getting my ears tired. There can be no question of irritation. The included cable is one of the best I've seen in the under $100 category; I wouldn't hesitate to use it, but I'm leaning towards balanced cables for my Radsone ES100. In the attached image, the transparent spade cable (left) is a 16-wire KBear cable with a TFZ/NX7 connector. As you can see, unlike a standard cable, KBear is able to sit flush with the case. One of the fiio diagrams shows that the port base has a vent outlet. So if you decide to buy a TFZ/NX7 terminator, you can leave a tiny gap for ventilation. Estimated Time of Arrival: 72 hours at FD1 has not changed. So in contrast to some offers that suggest 100 hours. Burn-in, FD1 is capable of working in less than 24 hours. The breadth of the sound stage should not be underestimated; Add to that an on-demand subwoofer, clean mids (no mid-bass leaks) and just the right amount of sparkle to make you want to stop and you've got headphones you'll love the most (cables again). Fiio's lower end, the standard SE cable, is the best I've tried for the sub-$100 category in years. No need to jump straight into aftermarket options. But once you do, even an inexpensive balanced cable will increase the soundstage in both depth and breadth. There is no night and there is no day, but enough not to dispute the difference.
