Review on 🌟 SHD Laptop Monitor Projector - Sleek Yellow Design by Brock Chisholm

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It didn't initially fit my device due to the plastic around the end of the connector until I cut it

These cables LOOK great , but I had to give two stars because the main end of the cable didn't fit into my PC jack as intended - until I trimmed the excess plastic with wire cutters. The plastic that appears on the cable just in front of the connector has a "lip" that extends perpendicular to the cable, about 1/16 inch or 1/32 inch around the connector. This tiny plastic sponge prevented the cable from entering the VGA socket on my mini PC. Rather than sending the cable back, I used wire cutters to cut off enough of that extra plastic sponge to fit the connector into the recessed VGA space on my computer. Once I trimmed that extra plastic edge it snapped into place (a bit tight but it was ok) and the cable works fine. I am using this VGA cable as a second monitor. I've attached two photos: the one on the left has a cable connected to my monitor that wasn't blocked so there weren't any connection issues. This page is uncropped and you can see the plastic opposite the monitor is clean and unaltered. The computer (which easily intrudes into the PC case) looks rough because it is cut to fit the VGA slot. Would be a great cable. I hate giving it a star as it is a very nice cable and works as expected but I was frustrated and wanted to return it because it just didn't fit in the right place due to that extra plastic bezel. But then I had the brilliant idea to cut the plastic myself. When you buy this VGA cable, be careful where you connect it. I needed to connect it to a VGA port on a Chuwi Herobox minicomputer, and the VGA slot itself was recessed about 1/16 inch deep into the computer's plastic case. The PC's VGA socket was too small for the plastic surrounding the cable. Obviously the actual plugs/sockets were fine as that is the standard. It's working fine now, and I think if it were a full-size laptop or desktop connector there wouldn't be any issues. and make sure you buy a cable that doesn't exceed that space.

Pros
  • VGA cable with dual ferrite cores and aluminum foil shielding to minimize crosstalk, noise reduction and EMI/RFI protection
Cons
  • boring packaging
