The strap is LONG ENOUGH that it can be cut/melted to length. The artificial metal buckle is a little tight to use, but it can improve security. However, they shortened zipper storage space by about 1 1/2 inches. They kept the belt the same width. I could fit $1500 worth of $100 bills in the old one, but I had to fold the bills in three! That made it cumbersome but doable. Without changing the belt width and shortening the zip part, I would expect less storage space. :-(
