To be honest, this isn't the worst camping ax I've ever had; However, I hate lugging single-tasking devices in my bag and this definitely falls into that category. Personally, I like my camping ax to have a wide neck so I can use it with a wedge (if needed), like a hammer, etc. This product has a very thin neck that I wouldn't try to beat anything with. Is the sheath tight, velcro, nylon? Stuff that is NOT impressive. The ax is EXTREMELY sharp with an extremely sharp heel and tip. In my opinion, this is extremely dangerous whether the ax is sheathed or unsheathed, and the risk of injury increases dramatically if you attach a lanyard to the end handle. In fact, my left hand now looks like I've fought a cat just by unsheathing the ax from its sheath. The ax handle is very short. If you have big hands like me, you run the risk of cutting yourself on corrugated iron. have NOT attempted to use the product as I am considering security issues. I recommend that you use caution and common sense before purchasing this ax - there are definitely better products out there!
