Medium size is perfect for all size 9-12 hunting boots. I use Gortex boots from Cabela by Meindl, size 10 and after a small adjustment they fit perfectly at the base of my boots and adjust very well at the top. If you've just received them and are trying them on for use, start below. I adjusted the bottom strap to 8 notches and the bottom of the velcro lined up perfectly and attaching the bottom loop to the laces tightened it perfectly around the base. Fasten the Velcro from the bottom up, then tighten the strap at the top to make sure it stays in place. It starts out fairly wide but can be stretched out fairly easily. I use mine to get through sage and fallen trees as well as knee-high snowy patches. Even a long jump through streams without my socks ever seeing a drop. I hope this information is helpful as I was struggling to choose the right sock. If you are looking for something to hunt and track animals I suggest something quieter.
