I love merino wool basics and wear them often both indoors and outdoors during the colder months of the year, so I have a lot of sets and am always looking for new additions to my collection and trying new brands too. They're listed as medium weight, feel warm and cozy, and compare very cheaply to some of my most expensive base layers. They are meant to be worn as a base layer but I don't see why they shouldn't work as barefoot tights or leggings. The fabric has a durable feel and isn't see-through at all, so I wouldn't have a problem wearing them like that. I wasn't sure about the size so I ordered a size up just to be on the safe side. They are a little big on the legs but fit well around the waist so they still work. Next time I'll order my normal size. They are perfect to wear under my pajamas - I like to wear wool trousers under my pajamas from around November to May, because the legs are often cut so wide that my legs get cold even under the covers. In fact, I'm wearing them as I write this review because even though it's 100 degrees today, I'm a bit cold inside the house with the air conditioning on (yes, that's just me; everyone else in the family is perfectly comfortable in shorts and t shirt). They feel very good the first time you wear them - they are comfortable, soft, do not tighten and do not itch at all. The waist is slim and fits my natural waist without rolling. I usually wash my merino base layers in cold water on the gentle cycle and line dry and they stay beautiful for years. They are very well made with flat seams and ribbed cuffs; high quality merino wool. The current price of $39.99 is more than reasonable and I will definitely be buying more of these.
