The distance between the surface of the keyboard tray and the lowest obstacle above it is 4 centimeters (1.57 inches). I would like clearer markings. If you're not careful, the grease for the drawer mechanism can get your hands dirty. Also confusing is that there are two thumbscrews on each shelf, even though each shelf has four possible mounting holes. I chose the bottom pair of holes for each shelf.
