Review on πŸš€ 1TB Samsung 980 PRO PCIe NVMe Gen4 Internal M.2 Gaming SSD (MZ-V8P1T0B) by Adam Wawrzyski ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Expectations were not met, average quality.

I have been using M.2 SSD Samsung in my small farm for more than 3 years, The main mass is at workstations, these are about 200+ computers, Models 960 Evo 250g, 970 evo 250g, 970 evo PLus 250g. There are also several 970 Pro 500 and the discussed 980 Pro 500. So I've been suffering with the latter for half a year now, They work in a lightly loaded server. the record for the duration of work without freezing is 45 days, and it could fall off after 3 days. I won’t lie, there were 7 incidents, including one during the setup period. One copy falls off more often. The temperature on the disk sensor is written to the log and for the whole time did not exceed 56 degrees, and so the working 43, yes, these are not ideal conditions for the server, But now this is not about that, there are two servers at the same time, one of which is generally in the corridor and there is 970 Pro and there it is constantly 2 degrees higher and everything has been fine with it for 2 years already. The other two 970 Pros have been plowing in the raid for a year and a half at an ideal temperature of 28. A month ago they put radiators - did not help. At first I sinned that the server does not support Pci-e 4.0, Now I think that it's more about temperature. I will change to 970 Pro, But where to put these things is not clear. What to present to the service center?

Pros
  • Speed, but I have a server with Pci-E - I did not feel it
Cons
  • Falls off, overloading the server does not help, you need to reset the power, IPMI helps out. And the server is in another city.
