After endless research on what type and brand of humidifier to buy, I finally settled on HumeXL. Living in the North East it can get quite dry in the winter but combined with the forced air heating in our apartment the humidity is <20% which definitely gives us a lot of dry skin problems. After opening the box, I installed this thing. in about 2 minutes which was a lot quicker than I expected as I hadn't really looked for installation instructions until they arrived. Simply pull the two adhesive tabs that hold the reservoir to the body, remove the reservoir, unscrew the cap and fill with distilled or reverse osmosis water (I used filtered water, I know distilled water is fine due to the lack of added minerals is preferable). Easy to use, as soon as you plug it in and press the power button, it immediately starts working on high settings. This thing definitely pumps tons of fog. You then have the option to set it to Low and toggle the night light on and off. So far I've only used it at the altitude as it's so dry here and it definitely has a big effect by raising the humidity by about 1-2% per hour (it's very drafty and the heater is on very often, I think that's a win). Another advantage is the silence. I didn't notice any difference between the low and high settings, even if you put your ear to it you hear almost nothing since you're relying on an ultrasonic device and not a noisy fan. A NOTICE. It should not be. too big a problem in everyday life, but if you try to move the device, please note that the handle on the back is not a carrying handle, but pulls the water tank out of the device. It's pretty obvious, but since the tank sits so organically at the back of the block, at first glance it looks like part of the body, and of course I've done that before as a distraction. The whole unit got up, but then the body started falling out of the tank, but I accidentally noticed it and caught it. Thing is, I forgot where the reservoir is, but thought it should at least be mentioned. Overall I am very happy with this humidifier. I ended up going with a cool mist over a warm mist humidifier as we have very curious cats and have had some issues. Like clockwork, within 2 minutes of getting up and running, our only cat was looking straight into the mist to see what it was and seemed to enjoy roaming around in it. Because of this, I would definitely say that this Cool Mist Block is much safer than warm mist if you have pets or children.
