I bought this set when my 7 year old and/or his friend sleep in a 'regular' bed (his bed doesn't need it). They regularly roll out of bed. I think we've used them for this purpose before, they worked well, not a single child rolled out. But they are inconvenient to store because they are long! So I kept this set in my guest room on a spare bed. One on the other side of the bed (not much movement and the dog doesn't have to climb over it) and one at the head of the bed just so it doesn't get in the way. They are installed under the stretch sheet. When I or my adult sleep in this bed: the side rails come in very handy! It's nice to feel that soft but somewhat firm support against my side or back depending on how I'm lying. It's like I'm swaying. Try it, you might like it too! I wasn't expecting it to appeal to me as an adult who can't roll out of bed, but I love it.
