I have used them on lower bunk beds with no side rails for a 2 year old who has yet to change from a cot. They swelled up quickly and completely. I bought this set when my 7 year old and/or his friend sleep in a 'regular' bed (his bed doesn't need it). They regularly roll out of bed.
