Inexpensive way to repair cracked housings

Just installed on my 2003 SVT Focus. Externally, it is identical to the production example. I noticed that my scanner's temperature dropped about 5 degrees. I believe it's the thermostat it comes with, but running 187 vs 192 doesn't hurt my feelings. If you purchased o-rings for the bottom blockage plug and sensor (recommended), use Viton #203 o-rings, but they require some grinding of the sides of the o-rings to install. This can be accomplished by setting them on a small deep well pedestal or pole and securing them in a drill press and then running them over sandpaper. All back together and 100 miles later, no leaks! * UPDATE 4-DEC-14 * Just an update. There are no leaks but the thermostat that came with the kit failed after 200 miles. I noticed lower readings on the oil temp gauge but didn't care much until the 'Check Engine' light came on as it couldn't get to operating temp at the required time. I then hooked up the Dashcommand software and monitored the coolant temp for several days. Then I realized that a 192 degree thermostat opens fully at 180 degrees! It never went above 181 on the Autobahn. I kept the old thermostat, a Motorcraft 192, and replaced it with a new case today and all is well again. Running as intended at 192 and no more CELs to warm up. FYI if you drive at 180 if you are not set up for it, it will negatively affect fuel economy. I lost about 4mpg on the last tank and I think I'm stuck in the riches with the old stats.
