Use it often. maybe more than I should, but it works great. This is a cocktail shaker that is well designed and goes great together. All I do is wash it thoroughly with hot water every time I use it and hand wash it with soap and water a few times a week, but not in the dishwasher. Will not leak or rust in at least 2 months of ownership and multiple uses per week, probably 30-40 times. It replaced the smaller one I bought from Target because it started leaking after a few weeks of use, very happy with it.
