Bought a used DSC-HX30V just in case. It lives in my glove box in one case and works well for its intended purpose. When I think of "those amazing" photos, I usually get them from a DSLR with good glass. There's an obvious difference between this and a full-frame DSLR with 2.8f glass, but it does a good job for a point and a shot in the early 2010s. Buyers have no regrets. If you find it at a good price, pull the trigger. The build quality is solid and there are tons of features. Why would you use this instead of using your phone's camera? 20x (500mm) optical zoom. There is no way to replace that range if the camera phone doesn't have optics. You can also wirelessly upload pictures to your phone so you can easily send/edit/whatever from there.
